NAC wins contract in Chad

Africa’s largest general aviation services company, NAC , was recently awarded a new humanitarian contract in Abeche, Chad. The company has extensive experience in carrying out global special mission contracts throughout Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Australasia and the Far East, covering everything from away-from-base flight operations and aircraft maintenance, to management and support services, often in hostile and unstable regions.

This most recent contract was awarded at extremely short notice, posing a number of complex logistical challenges to the NAC team. The necessary aircraft was stationed in the Middle East at the time that the contract was announced, giving NAC just five days to apply for all the country overflight clearances and landing permits.

Achieving this was no mean feat, especially with the added complication of a shutdown of Pakistan’s airspace due to escalating tensions with India. The route had to be precisely planned to avoid flying over Pakistan while taking into account the limited range of the aircraft.

“With a massive team effort from maintenance personnel, pilots and ground operations, we managed to pull off the entire mission with hours to spare,” commented Shaun Stark, NAC’s General Manager of Operations. Stark also explained that when the client performed an acceptance audit the following day to ensure that NAC had lived up to its contractual requirements regarding the aircraft, crew and documentation, everything was found to be 100% in line with the terms of the contract and no corrective action was required, despite the quick turnaround time.
